Summer speaks for itself at Gerton Retreat. The weather is always perfect. The temperature remains comfortable all summer. Our elevation brings cool days and nights where there is generally no need for air conditioning. The breeze is crisp and refreshing due to the coolness coming from our front yard creek. In case of a rare rise in temperature, each suite has its own air conditioning. There is magnificent on site hiking and nearby majestic Lake Lure for boating, water skiing, swimming and other water sports. There is a plethora of restaurants to satisfy any summer appetite. It’s a glorious stay in the country. Your summer vacation awaits.
Lights, Camera, Action! Be prepared for the most stunning Autumn colors in the world. Gerton Retreat is completely surrounded by a forest of greens, yellows, oranges and reds, all the vibrant colors of the season. You don’t even have to leave your front porch. Imagine the accompanying sound of our flowing creek, and the rustling of the dancing leaves. Add to that, the Big Bonus: the chirping chorus of magnificent birds joining forces with the visual gifts to create a special Fall magic.
Gerton Retreat comprises the entire first floor of the main house on the 4 acre estate. Over nineteen hundred square feet accommodates up to eight guests in three private rooms. Whatever the reason,Whatever the season we have a place for you, Our rooms are decorated uniquely giving each its own personality. There is a full common kitchen and dining room as well as a common gathering room. We are dog friendly, maximum of two. Please check our booking site for fees and guidelines.
The Farm House is 418 Sq ft., has a Queen bed and an oversized twin and and its own full bath.
The Country Cozy is 420 Sq ft., has one king bed, an oversized twin, a wood burning fireplace and shares a full bath with South by Southwest.
South by Southwest is 230 Sq ft., has one King bed and a shared full bath with Country Cozy.
Guests are invited to enjoy all spaces and amenities across our four acres. Relax on our outdoor veranda with either a garden or seasonal mountain view. If you would like, use our gas grill or get adventurous and take advantage of the gas pizza oven. Positioned under the trees, we have a 36 jet hot tub that seats six. We have two fire pits and provide two cords of wood per day. We also have laundry facilities upon request. If you would like, we also have a steam sauna that seats approximately four available for a fee. Most incredible of all is our grounds: a peace-filled place for reflection, contemplation or meditation--by the creek, in the woods or on the lawn.
Gerton Retreat is perfectly positioned to fulfill the outdoor adventurer's heart. Within a five mile perimeter, hikers will find premiere trails: Hickory Nut Gorge TrailHead, Bearwallow Trail, RattleSnake Knob, Trombatore Trail, Strawberry Gap, and Wildcat Rock Trail to name a few.
A short fifteen minute drive from the retreat brings visitors to magnificent Lake Lure where there is something for everyone. Rent a boat, enjoy a historic lake tour, drop a fishing line, water ski, paddle board or kayak and more. Gerton Retreat offers concierge service to help visitors plan excursions.
Historic, funky Asheville is only 13 miles away. Charming Hendersonville is only 13 miles away. And if you want to stay a bit closer to home, Chimney Rock Village is a mere seven miles from the Retreat and offers unique shopping and dining possibilities.

Our goal is to deliver an elevated experience in the storied mountains of Bearwallow in the Western Carolinas. We are passionate about serving the needs of groups and organizations on our exceptional grounds. We have overnight accommodations for up to eight people and can also lodge one to two leaders or guides in the upstairs ensuite shared owner space. Stop the presses and head to AmyLee’s incredible Boutique Mountain Love Ranch. Secluded in the mountains near Lake Lure and Asheville, was a heavenly 4 days of peace and serenity. Could not of asked for anything more. Amy is the reigning Queen of Super Hosting. The king bed was a millionaires dream to sleep on. Tons of games, hiking and laying on the hammock while the bubbling creek put you to sleep. Dog friendly too! Will be visiting again.
If I could give Amy Lee 5 plus stars I would. My stay at her ranch far exceeded expectations (and they were already high). She is personable, relatable, but completely respectful of privacy.
